Join Marni Task and her musical companions in an evening of devotion in the form of chanting. We will use our voices in "call and response" to create an environment of communal harmony. When we chant the names of Sit, Ram, or Krishna, we invoke that which is within each of us to destroy the obstacles or create love in our lives. *During this special gathering, we will be celebrating the return of Samuel (violin and sarangi player) as he returns from his recent travels in India. Bring your friends, family, and an open heart as we celebrate life!

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra (Tryambakam) is chanted 108 times EVERY Saturday! This is a beautiful Shiva chant for healing and victory over death. It’s chanted in Satyananda yoga centers and ashrams around the world on Saturdays. Beforehand you can write the names of loved ones who need healing (either in life or death) in a special book. Each name will be read prior to the chanting. It’s a very powerful and healing experience.
FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH Ananda Bhakti Community Kirtan Location: The Ideal Method Address: 6595 Brecksville Rd, Suite #3, Independence, Ohio Date: May 7th (next is June 4th) Time: 6-7 p.m. Phone: 216-965-6169 Registration: Donations welcome; no pre-registration necessary. Just show up!
This is a devotional community chanting session at the end of the day of the yoga teacher training co-facilitated by Denys Morgan & Julie Brown. This year we are lucky to have an amazing drummer in our program, Leo Walsh! This kirtan is for beginners and beyond and is open to all, no experience necessary. The gathering is intended to be a casual, "user-friendly" experience rather than a musical performance and is meant for learning and growing. There is no need for a "good" singing voice; mantras can be done silently while the senses soak up the sounds. Chants can also be spoken or hummed. Free expression such as yogic movement or dance is encouraged, and there will be some instruments provided (but feel free to bring your own). Everyone is encouraged and welcome to lead the chant. Chanting helps to control the breath thus controlling the thoughts, focusing them to a higher level. The Sanskrit word for mantra (consisting of the root man = "to think" also "mind" and tra = tool) can be translated as "instrument of thought." Chanting in the sacred language of Sanskrit (known as "the language of the gods") creates vibrations that resonate deeply, affecting the body mentally, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. Based on the meridians, they actually affects the body physiologically due to the stimulation of the glandular and nervous systems. We also incorporate the living language known as Gurmukhi (from the Sikh / Kundalini Yoga mantas) into our kirtans. The chants from these ancient and holy languages of India are a powerful yet simple way to meditate, promoting a peaceful mind and a open heart. Our kirtan will always end with Arti and prashad.
